Chapter 11: Evil God Believers and the Gold Coin
by KikiUnder normal circumstances, after finishing lunch, students would usually rest for an hour.
But today was different.
Because the Black Armor Army had sealed off the school, everyone was excitedly discussing the matter. Nobody had any intention of taking a nap.
“I just wandered around the school gate earlier, but unfortunately I didn’t get to see any Black Armor Army warriors.”
“Maybe the Black Armor Army has already withdrawn.”
“They definitely haven’t withdrawn! I heard two warriors are stationed in the security room, while another two are patrolling around the school.”
After listening for a while, Cheng Han felt it was all meaningless nonsense, so he simply used the Omniscient Eye to perform a deduction.
A phantom scene appeared before his eyes.
A large number of warriors clad in black armor had completely surrounded the textile factory, sealing it tighter than an iron bucket. All the workers had been evacuated.
On an open patch of ground lay a pile of objects covered by black cloth. One corner had been lifted, revealing what was hidden underneath—
A severed tentacle.
According to the scenes he had seen during previous deductions, the Bloodhead Spider was an extremely twisted monster with numerous tentacles protruding from its mouth.
Without question, this was the slain Bloodhead Spider.
Nearby stood a black-robed man who coldly barked,
“Burn it!”
Several warriors immediately responded in unison.
“Yes!”
Together, they raised their right arms. Each of their hands wore a dark red metal gauntlet.
A faint red glow suddenly lit up, enveloping the gauntlets.
Several blazing serpents of fire burst forth from the surface of the gauntlets and struck the corpse from all directions, instantly transforming it into a blazing inferno.
A moment later, the vision vanished.
His proficiency increased by 2 points, reaching 49/1000.
Cheng Han felt a deep sense of accomplishment.
“It looks like the information I sent earlier successfully helped the authorities prevent a terrible disaster.”
He secretly muttered to himself,
“So they can use tools to unleash flames. Interesting.”
At that moment, Qian Qingqing glanced at him several times before suddenly asking,
“Cheng Han, you’ve been spacing out for quite a while. What are you thinking about?”
Cheng Han casually replied,
“Nothing.”
Qian Qingqing switched topics.
“I wonder how long the lockdown will last. I hope we’ll still be able to go home today.”
Cheng Han smiled.
“We’ll definitely be able to go home.”
Now that he already knew the result, naturally it was not difficult for him to reason backward from it.
Qian Qingqing blinked her beautiful eyes.
“Why?”
Without hesitation, Cheng Han replied,
“If I were the person in charge of the Black Armor Army, and the city truly needed to remain locked down for a long time, then I would have announced school suspension from the very beginning.”
Qian Qingqing was immediately convinced.
“That makes sense.”
Cheng Han added another sentence.
“The Black Armor Army is extremely powerful. Half a day has already passed. They’ve most likely already killed the monster, so the lockdown will probably be lifted very soon.”
The little girl nodded in agreement.
“I hope so.”
Wen Jie, sitting in the back row, originally wanted to object, but after remembering how he had already gotten slapped in the face once this morning, he wisely kept his mouth shut.
Earlier, he had insisted the school might be in danger.
Yet half the day had already passed, and the campus remained perfectly calm.
Did this look like danger at all?
Half an hour later.
Homeroom teacher Yan Dongshan strode into the classroom and announced a piece of news.
“Students, the Black Armor Army has just withdrawn. The school lockdown has officially been lifted.”
A burst of cheers immediately erupted throughout the classroom.
Everyone looked delighted. After all, nobody wanted to be trapped inside the school.
Qian Qingqing looked toward Cheng Han and directly gave him a thumbs-up.
“Your prediction was spot on!”
Cheng Han merely smiled without saying anything.
Prediction?
This had been the truth from the start.
Wen Jie, meanwhile, silently rejoiced that he had not interrupted earlier. Otherwise, he would have been humiliated yet again.
After school.
As usual, Cheng Han held a silver coin and used the Omniscient Eye once.
The vision lasted for a single second before disappearing.
A line of information flashed through his mind:
“Proficiency +3. Current proficiency: 52/1000. Spirit Value: 8.3/13.4.”
Cheng Han was surprised.
Ever since the Omniscient Eye reached Level 2, deducing information about picking up money had never granted proficiency again.
Why had it suddenly awarded 3 points this time?
How strange!
Recalling the scene from the vision, Cheng Han guessed,
“The money I picked up before was mostly copper coins, with the rest being silver coins. Could this time be a gold coin?”
Very likely!
Excited, he whistled.
“Could it be that because I did a good deed, the heavens are rewarding me?”
Riding his bicycle, Cheng Han spent nearly half an hour reaching the eastern outskirts of the city.
Compared to the city center, the density of buildings here had greatly decreased.
Meanwhile, the vegetation coverage was much higher, and in many places, neatly divided farmland could still be seen.
Looking at the dim sky and the pitch-black forest, Cheng Han began regretting his decision.
“There are no streetlights in the suburbs. What if something happens? I should’ve waited until a rest day before coming.”
He muttered,
“Forget it. Since I’m already here, I might as well search for it.”
Cheng Han continued riding for several hundred meters before spotting a vast patch of overgrown wasteland. A narrow ditch wound its way through the area.
He parked his bicycle by the roadside and followed the ditch for dozens of meters, eventually locating a large rock.
According to the clue, the gold coin lay buried in the mud and sand beside the rock. Since the place was so remote, it had most likely been buried there for a very long time, making it ownerless wealth.
And ownerless property belonged to him, did it not?
Excited, Cheng Han crouched beside the ditch and took a small shovel out of his backpack.
Just as he was about to start digging, a vision suddenly appeared before his eyes.
A small clump of pitch-black mist, like a ball of ink, suddenly descended from the sky and instantly burrowed into the soil within the ditch.
“Nit… Sabas… Anyaka…”
An incomparably eerie whisper suddenly rang out beside his ears.
Merely hearing it caused a suffocating irritation in one’s heart, making one desperately want to scream and shout.
Then the vision vanished.
Clearly, the Omniscient Eye had passively activated once.
His proficiency immediately increased by 4 points.
Cheng Han was thoroughly alarmed.
“This should be the power of an Evil God, right?”
He had never imagined that the gold coin he found would actually be connected to an Evil God.
It was simply too bizarre.
The textbooks clearly stated that some objects associated with Evil Gods would cause ordinary people to hear murmurs if they approached too closely, and their souls might even become corrupted.
He immediately stood up and rapidly retreated several steps before performing a deduction at the fastest possible speed.
“Is there any danger?”
The result came instantly—
The power contained within the gold coin existed in an extremely mysterious state. As long as he did not directly touch it, there would be no danger.
Cheng Han let out a sigh of relief and naturally thought of another question.
“Why would this gold coin appear here?”
He had originally assumed it was merely wealth accidentally lost by someone.
But now it seemed that was absolutely intentional.
After pondering for a while, Cheng Han thought to himself,
“If my guess is correct, this gold coin is definitely connected to the textile factory incident.
“I personally changed the direction of events. Because of that, I now possess extremely strong correlation to the matter, which is why the success rate of deducing anything related to it is abnormally high.”
“I had never predicted a gold coin before, yet today I suddenly foresaw one. The reason is precisely this.”
Taking a deep breath, Cheng Han silently muttered,
“Deduce who left behind the coin.”
A phantom scene appeared once more.
Within complete darkness, a thin and gaunt figure quickly appeared beside the ditch, tossed down a gold coin, and swiftly departed.
The entire process lasted less than three seconds.
Then the vision disappeared.
Cheng Han’s expression turned solemn.
“As expected, it’s exactly as I thought.”
He immediately understood everything.
“An Evil God believer secretly hid a gold coin here as a backup plan. Then he participated in the textile factory incident and died at the hands of the Black Armor Army.
“Before dying, he used some bizarre secret technique, allowing that clump of black mist to escape the scene, travel a great distance, and attach itself to the gold coin.”
“So the reason I found this gold coin was actually inevitable!”
